Dark and Creative!

This book definitely took me to a place I’ve never been before. If you are the least bit squeamish, this story is not for you. This is the darkest book I’ve ever read, and I discovered books this dark are just not for me. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t well written. It was, I just did not care for the story line.
Redeeming Rhys is about whether or not evil is learned or if you are born with it. Rhys took me on his journey, and outside my hearts and flowers box. I did not enjoy the journey (sorry I am being honest here) but I have to give props to the author for being utterly creative.
I was taken on one hell of a ride with Rhys and Wren to see if his absolution is too late, and I have to be honest, the things he did in the beginning of this book, I didn’t want absolution for him. Not one bit. And then later on. Jesus. Yeah, no way...too far for me the things this guy did. And there was a HUGE twist in this story, I was completely thrown. So, I have to say the author definitely succeeded in evoking many emotions from me with this story, it was just a bit too twisted for my liking.

A dark and twisted ride!

This book will push you out of your comfort zone. It is violent, bloody, graphic and twisted. The author, through brilliant storytelling, takes the reader deep into the mind of a man who is beyond redemption. Rhys has one single-minded focus, and that is to find the one girl whose life he spared ten years ago. Wren was his one constant when he was a child, and remained on his mind constantly after they separated. He believes that she is the only one who can give him what he needs.
This book was different from the ones I am used to reading. I enjoy dark reads, and this one was definitely dark, but it goes further and delves into the mind of a seriously disturbed man. He is violent and murderous as a result of the wrongs that were committed to him as a child.
"He didn't think he could hate any more than he did. He wasn't sure if he was making up for all the wrong that had been done to him, or if it was his calling; who he was born to become."
Being in Rhys's mind was a chilling experience. The author knows how to keep the reader hooked, as I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see where Rhy's obsession would lead to. Both Rhys and Wren had horrible childhood experiences, and both of them deal with their pain in completely different ways. Wren desperately sought normalcy, while Rhys embraced his insanity. While Wren tries to hold her pain inside, Rhys projects his pain onto others.
"He was convinced he didn't have a heart. Not anymore. Maybe not ever."
I couldn't wait for the two of them to come face to face again, after being apart for ten years. The author did a fantastic job with the buildup leading to their reunion. The story is told in the present with glimpse of the past scattered throughout, and I was eagerly waiting for the puzzle pieces to all come together.
I do not want to give too much away, but I will say that the author weaves amazing twists and turns into the story and leaves us with an ending that I did not see coming. Again, this book is not for the faint of heart so beware of the author's warning before going it. It was shocking, twisted, and depraved, and if you enjoy dark reads, then this is the book for you. Mary E. Palmerin is a talented writer who is exceptionally skilled at telling a chilling story that will stay in your head long after you've finished reading it.

Twisted and dark yet keeps you captivated to the very end!!!

Redeeming Rhys is a twisted dark read. The book will take you out of your comfort zone. You will see what it is like in the mind of a twisted disturbed individual. Rhys is violent, murderous and full of rage and hate however when it comes to Wren he loves her in the only way he knows how. Both Rhys and Wren had horrible childhood experiences and both wanted to be normal. Rhys takes his pain out on others while Wren hides her pain deep inside.
Just when you think you have it all figured out, BAM there is a huge twist to the story. I was not anticipating the twist at all. If you still question why Wren and Rhys are the way they are, I feel the twist helped explained it.
If you are squeamish and unable to handle reading about the pain that someone is going through, then this book is not for you. Please take heed to the warning in the front of the book – they are there for a reason.
Mary Palmerin’s writing is unique and will pull you in and keep a hold of you from the beginning to the end. She has a way of making you feel what the character is going through in his mind and actions. The writing is good and the editing is near flawless.
If you can handle uncomfortable dark reads, you do not want to miss this one. Each book I read by M. Palmerin makes me more and more of a fan. Even though the books are sickening and make you squirm, I love them!
