Christopher hadn’t been with Rembrandt’s group long. With their combined efforts there were fewer and fewer monsters to fight. His mate had died a long time ago, so he volunteered to go with Skylar to look for some “newbies”. When they arrived at the warehouse the new ones were acting very strange.
Kate had been scouting out the building when a large crate just suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Curiosity had her standing in the shadows when she saw two warriors come up the stairs and approach the crate. When they became aware of her presence, the man shifted into the largest cat she’d ever seen and pinned her to the floor with his large paws.
Kate was more than any of them had bargained for, and Chris soon discovered that Kate was his true mate, that the other woman never was. And when they fought together they were downright scary.
With their enemies Ward and Nolan dead, there was no one left to keep Benton, the huge monster they’d created, in line. Benton had lost his mind a long time ago, but one thought remained constant…he wanted Rembrandt dead….

I loved this book. This was an amazing read that I could not put down until I finished the very last page. The story was very entertaining and kept me interested all the way through. The characters are great and you feel as though you know them personally and no matter what you want to see them happy. The book moved along at the perfect pace making it easy to read. This has to be read, you will not be sorry.

Chris and Kate find their missing piece.

Christopher, fairly new to Rembrandt's crew, is still trying to find his place in his new world, but he's still struggling with a tragic event from his past, feeling guilt when he really shouldn't as he was actually a victim.
Kate, a rare supernatural, crosses paths with Chris and is surprised to find herself unable to move...well that's understandable when you have a panther pinning you to the floor. LOL Thus begins Kate's introduction to her mate and new family. Oh come on, you knew they'd be mates. But, while Kate instantly knows what he is to her, Chris doesn't fully understand what's going on because he had a mate, Pella, and lost her. Thankfully, for Kate's sake and Chris's peace of mind, she's able to help him see that Pella wasn't his mate and helps him fully grasp the truth of his marriage, Pella's pregnancy, her death, and the full story behind what really happened.
While Chris and Kate quickly accept their mating, the group continues to struggle with the malefactors, they also now have adherents to deal with, and we learn more about Benton, aka Master. Benton has lost his grip on reality and everything he's planned for is unraveling. Yeah, you can't really feel sorry for him though as he's not a nice man and is determined to destroy Rembrandt and his newly formed family.
As we revisit with previous couples, follow Chris and Kate as they discover their HEA, and learn more about Benton's plans, we also get more of a glimpse into what the future holds for Nate and Rick. Nate is a part of the group, yet he's not as he holds himself apart from everyone and they can't seem to get through to him, but when his insecurity gets the better of him and leads to his capture to be a "guest" of Benton's and his diabolical medical experiments, he learns that all of them wanted to be a part of his rescue, despite his unwillingness to fully embrace his new life. However, Rick, never one to hold his tongue, is able to find out what's bothering Nate and helps him work through it. Phew! That's a relief as their mates are coming soon and things will be a changing. I'm looking forward to their stories, especially the snippet we're given of what's in store for Rick and his set on revenge mate.
I really like the truth of Kate's supernatural ability, due to it's uniqueness, but it is a big responsibility. It's not one I think I'd to like to have at my fingertips, yet it could definitely come in handy. *In regards to that, I can't help but recall an old song lyric from Pilot - Oh, oh, oh it's magic. Yes, I know it's a throwback, but once you discover what Kate is, you'll completely understand why that popped into my head.*
I highly recommend this series, yet do suggest you read this series in order for the sake of continuity. Plus, I feel everyone that loves paranormal stories should read Kathi's books.

Will this group ever be able to live normal lives?

Rembrandt's group is still trying to fight to destroy those that wish to harm them in the name of greed. With each man that finds his mate the group becomes stronger and each woman brings her own power to help.
**"Your hear is pure. Untouched by love, yet filled with sorrow and anger. You're angry more than you are hurt, aren't you, Chris?"**
Chris is another unwilling member in the group, but unlike others he still pulls his weight to help defeat the evil that would take over their realm. While out for patrol with Skylar he never thought he'd run into a woman who makes his cat sit up and stake his claim. He's convinced his mate and unborn son died years ago because of him. But Kate is determined to prove to Chris he isn't to blame, and that together they are stronger.
**"I have seen wonders of the world that no one else has. I have witnessed such destruction that I feared no one would survive it. Wonders that I can share with you, but none other."**
Kate is as old as the realm. She is an elite shifter, but more. She never thought she'd find another mate, or even want one after her last one. But with Chris she's seeing what a true mating can be like and not only do they bring the best out in each other, but now she has someone to share the other part of herself with.
With fewer malefactors to fight, the group can't help but wonder what comes next. Is there a place for them after they kill Benton or will they be ostracized because of what they do or did for the world.?
