Mystery and Suspense with a Twist

Acts of Passion by Sedonia Guillone takes the reader on a suspenseful journey looking for a murderer who performed a Japanese sword ritual on the victim. A death note, with the intentions of looking like suicide, is all the detective, Jack Cade, has to go on.
Jack reaches out for help to his longstanding profiler only to find out he has retired. A new man has taken the position, Dr. Michael Di Santo, and he hurries over to help with the investigation.
At first, Jack doesn’t know what to think about the new profiler. He is standoffish and seems to go into a trance while he is observing the crime scene. It’s quite evident that he is brilliant and very knowledgeable and Jack notices that he is also very attractive.
Michael and Jack work very closely trying to figure out who the killer is. After they part ways for the day Michael can’t stop thinking about clues and scenarios but he needs a second person to act out his theory. He ends up at Jack’s apartment at 2:30 in the morning which leads to sex between the two.
The story really held my attention with the mystery and suspense and was very believable. The main characters were each very interesting within their own fields but it was really fast insta-lust moving right into insta-love. They worked on getting to know each other during the investigation usually have their sexual escapades.
Michael has some secrets in his closet that the author hinted at throughout the course of the book and it’s not really brought out in the open till almost the end. As far as the murderer, I was pretty sure I knew who it was from the introduction and I was right, but I was still surprised at the level the killer went to. Very intriguing.
My heart was beating pretty fast and I was completely absorbed in the story when trouble meets them on the doorstep. The author had my full attention and overall I really enjoyed the story.
Sedonia Guillone is a new author to me but based on this story alone, I would definitely read more from her and I would love to see more of Jack Cade and Michael Di Santo mysteries.

Jack Cade meets Michael di Santo when he feels a suicide case is a murder. Di Santo is replacing his old friend and profiler. Michael has some strange quirks and an odd way of working that leaves Jack in awe once he gets past the man’s unique ways.
I love a good murder mystery especially one that I don’t figure out who done it right away. This one truly surprised me one twist at a time. It had the feel of the Sherlock Holmes series. I could visualize Michale in that role with his pacing and candy sucking. I loved Michael. Jack was the more serious, strong counterpart.
The characters were great and compliment each other well even though the romance moves very fast. There are lots of twists; the plot is good, and both men are very complex with secrets. I loved this story and wanted more of the dynamic duo.
If you like mystery/suspense, quirky characters, hot police officers and some pretty hot man-sex, you will love this book!

Great book!

First of all, this was a really great book. The storyline, the suspence and the romance were pretty good build up. This is the first book That I have ever read from this author give it a try to other books of her. The only reason this is not a five-star review it had to be with a few things that weren't clarify or very well explained. Other than that the book was well written! By the way, I knew who the killer was as soon as the character appear in the book!!! LOL! I'm good at puzzles! Give it a try you won't regret it. Happy reading!
