So here I stand. Half the man I was, p*ssed as f*ck, because while I was busy making a better life for us, she was under the impression I was leaving her lonely. I know one day she’ll see what I’ve been doing has been for us, and when that day comes… She can damn well come crawling back to me.

Should be Better **Spoilers**

I don't know if I like what the author was implying.
The writing was good, and Sketch was developed well for this to be such a short story but I don't think Nina was. The story was clearly biased toward Sketch being in the right and Nina being wrong. They both had things they should've worked on, but the author implied that Nina was spoiled and spent all his money. But she worked, so I would assume some of the money she spent was hers? Also, while the home was nice it was only a 2 bedroom - if they planned to have kids, why wouldn't she voice her concerns with the space? If she likes the color yellow - why wouldn't she want to paint her favorite room that?
I think Sketch assumed more than he really knew about what she wanted. He stated she always wanted to spend money but that's only because her father said he expected her husband to provide that. Yet Nina was clear that she wanted him. Why would anyone be surprised and not accept some responsibility for never being present in a relationship? She was portrayed as a one dimensional bad wife. She had to come to him to make it work because he was hurt. It was almost as if him never being around should have been acceptable because he is trying to "provide".
I also don't buy that she wasn't really involved in his life. He mentioned she supported him in the beginning, then she had no clue about some of the most basic things in his life. I do think they loved each other. I do think a lot of the reactions were spot on. I do believe that they grew apart. I just didn't like the implication that someone should be willing to accept when a partner isn't present because they are making money.
On another note, this was way too short for it's cost. It had so much potential but was lacking in certain areas.

I loved the premise of this book, Sketch is about a couple that have been together for 14 years. They have grown apart and Nina has decided to leave Sketch because she feels he is more concerned about his job than her. Sketch needed to be the man, the provider, protector, and give Nina the world but his wife didn’t get that. It seemed to me that Nina was a spoiled child and I couldn’t connect with her. She turned to spending money and pampering herself because she couldn’t get what she wanted from Sketch. I really didn’t side with her in the story; I felt she could have made an effort to understand her husband and what he was trying to do. While I think Sketch could have put in more effort with this wife at times they both lost the ability to communicate effectively.
I think I needed more depth to enjoy this story. I think that if we could have had some more background on them as a couple, maybe a few scenes in the past I could have invested in them more. If the author had shown some stuff leading to the breakup rather than telling me I think that would have helped also. I did find some of this story enjoyable but the writing came off as a little choppy so it didn’t flow well for me.

This should be labeled NOVELLA OR SHORT STORY. Took me an hour to read.

I think that the premise was good. I read that page numbers were wrong and it was a full length book. It was short...short...short. It could have been expanded with more detail. They broke up then they decided to work on getting back together. Told mostly from his POV. Chapters were short...short...short. I think it took me an hour to read this. I would not have paid $3.99 for a novella...but I guess I just did. Had difficulty connecting to both characters because it was so short...short...short. Disappointed with length, price and lack of characters depth. Again this should be labeled and sold as a NOVELLA OR SHORT STORY.
